A Mountain Wedding

Two weeks ago, my little brother married his high school sweetheart–and she really is a sweetheart–in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.  I can’t even put into words how beautiful the wedding was.  The ceremony was outside in a lush green field next to a small trickling creek, and as Will and Anna said their vows beneath a flower-adorned arbor, the sunshine came out and made all the beautiful colors shine even brighter.  The reception was under a huge tent in the same field surrounded by the mountains, and when the sun went down the stars were absolutely brilliant.  As my dad said, everything about the wedding weekend had Will and Anna’s fingerprints all over it.  I heard many people say, “This is just so Will-and-Anna.”  As lovers of the outdoors (especially the mountains) and of all things art and music, their personalities were woven into every detail.  And, of course, it had the fingerprints of God all over it as the day was also a celebration of His beautiful creation, and the union of Will and Anna was divinely orchestrated by Him long ago.

I wish I had been able to take pictures the entire time just to document the beauty of the day, but in between chasing after our one-year-old and fulfilling my duties as a bridesmaid, I was thankfully able to get a few shots of Anna, first, as she got ready, and then as she “posed” for the wedding photographer.  I love these because they capture not only her beauty, but her personality as well… which is FUN!  I am not a wedding photographer, nor do I aspire to be one at this point, but I sure did have fun working on these.

So… here is my new little sis-(in-law) on her wedding day…
